On 17 August 2022 (Photo 1), Minister Che brought Pastor Dong to Suva Chinese Christian Church for the first time. Minister Che had visited our church more than ten years earlier. Pastor Dong shared that EFCCA had already received a vision for mission and church planting in 2019, but the pandemic delayed the plan. Once the pandemic ended, EFCCA began to act.

From that meeting in 2022, EFCCA took our small church to heart.

From then until now, the following moments are things we at Suva EFC will never forget.

On 23 September 2022, Pastor Dong returned with Elder Jim Chen and Elder Ren to visit us (Photo 2).

We also expressed our hope that EFCCA could take responsibility for our church because we had never had a permanent pastor. For more than twenty years, most of the time only four or five co-workers had faithfully kept the gatherings going. From 2007 to 2009, Pastor Huang Shouquan and his wife, sent by Chinese Christian Mission Australia, served here for three years, but later left because of his wife’s health.

On 20 November 2022, Pastor Dong visited us again with Elder Stephen Yeh and his wife, together with Brother Zhang (Photo 3).

On 14 May 2023, the whole Suva Chinese Christian Church agreed to come under the care of EFCCA. The founding pastor of Suva Chinese Christian Church, Pastor Deng Mingya, travelled from the United States especially for the handover ceremony (Photo 4). She was also at peace entrusting our church to EFCCA’s leadership.

On 7 June 2023, the EFC General Assembly approved the establishment of the Suva EFC Prayer Station. Auntie Zhang Zhikui saw our needs and, together with Sister Sun Jing, led our co-workers through a new-believer discipleship course. When I learned that Auntie Zhang persisted in teaching every lesson from her bed, we were deeply moved and encouraged.

EFCCA also helped us repair the church building. The work gave our church a completely renewed appearance.

On 22 October 2023, Suva EFC welcomed its first group of four brothers and sisters for baptism (Photo 5). My husband, Brother Zhang Jihua, was one of them. The other three were a grandmother who was baptised together with her grandson and granddaughter. Glory to the Lord!

During Christmas 2023, Elder Ren, Sister Fengxia, Sister Lujia and Sister Peixiang came to Suva EFC for a short-term mission, while other brothers and sisters from EFCCA served at Lautoka EFC (Photo 6). Christmas in Fiji falls during the hottest season, with temperatures above 30°C. Elder Ren led the three sisters in preparing dinner for us because the brothers and sisters were either running shops or working. Everyone came to church for dinner after work, and the time together strengthened our relationships. Our kitchen was small and stuffy, and everyone was drenched in sweat, yet no one complained. Everyone served joyfully, and each evening the church was filled with laughter.

On 15 April 2024, Elder Zheng Chun visited Fiji with his family while travelling and also came to visit our church (Photo 7).

On 8 September 2024, Minister Lü Quan was ordained as an EFC minister to serve at Suva EFC (Photo 8). Because of visa issues, Minister Lü and his wife later left Fiji on 26 May 2025.

In September 2025, my husband and I visited EFCCA. The brothers and sisters welcomed us warmly. Later, more than forty brothers and sisters gathered at Elder Ren’s home to farewell us (Photo 9). Tears of gratitude would not stop flowing as we experienced the love and encouragement of the EFCCA family.

On 25 September 2025, missionary Sister Li Manyi came to accompany Suva EFC for two months. She helped strengthen our connection with our mother church (Photo 10) and led our online prayer meeting every Tuesday evening, which continues today.

From 21 April to 3 June 2026, Minister Susan Yin came to accompany Suva EFC for more than a month. On 10 May 2026, a second group of four brothers and sisters was baptised (Photo 11). Minister Yin gave our co-workers disciplined teaching. At her own expense, she also took four of us women co-workers to stay at a beautiful hotel in Nadi, enjoy the scenery and meals, and—more importantly—share in a wonderful retreat where we opened our hearts, confessed to one another and forgave one another (Photo 12). I am also grateful to Sister Liping for her help and encouragement during my training course. She was extremely patient and carefully taught me step by step. There are simply too many testimonies to record one by one; God’s grace cannot be counted.

In the more than four years since we first met our family at EFCCA, EFCCA and Suva EFC have become closely connected. They have supported, led and helped us. Not only has the church building been renewed; the hearts of our co-workers have also been rekindled, giving us greater strength and unity in service. All glory belongs to God. Through EFCCA’s mission and church planting, we met one another in the truth and have seen even more of God’s power and works. May we continue forward together with vision, loving one another and displaying the Lord’s love!
